i'm not sure if you are aware, the Rumah Melayu Kampung Kuchai is not longer there. It's been torn down few years back. I used to pass by that building when i was a student in St Michael's. Besides, the Lam looking Bazaar is left unused like ghost building after the fire. No conservation work is done. ST. Michael's School's roof tiles were changed with some new tiles not following the original tiles from France, so it has lost it's heritage essence. What can USM do to teach Perak Gov on heritage building conservation? not only that, i see some of those prewar shop houses along Jln Sultan Iskandar (Hugh Low Street) are in bad condition. With heritage building being torn down, some left to rot and not conserved, I dunno how long more can these buildings stand. Ipoh is going to lose its pride very soon.. sad...
